Wonderful Family … Portland Family Portraits
January 6, 2011This gorgeous family came in just after their littlest one was born. And with the help of the two adorable older siblings, we captured a sweet family moment. The moments move so fast when babies are brand new….
As always…can you guess the quote?

A Not-So-Little Baby Boy…[Kimberly Whipps, Baby Photographer San Dimas California]
November 30, 2010I always HIGHLY recommend that people bring in their newborn for their portraits within the first week….second week at the latest. However, that is not always possible….like if you live in another state. So this little guy is much older than my typical newborn at nearly 7 weeks…but the stars aligned and all was right in the world as he feel into a deep sleep and we worked quickly. Very quickly!
Beautiful big sister with her new baby brother….
And the gorgeous family…

MIRACLE…[Kimberly Whipps, Baby and Child Photographer]
November 21, 2010I am still playing catch up with my blog….I am very behind and for that I apologize. But…I must jump in here out of order to share this. So many of you have asked for an update on this little one.
Miss Violet is now seven months old…still full of strength, life and spirit. I asked her mother is she would write a little something for my blog to share with you all. And I will share with you some photos from her recent session with her big sister. Just beautiful…
“When I was 27 weeks pregnant we were told our baby has a rare birth defect. Our doctor said that it was likely that our baby wouldn’t walk or talk and would be severely disabled. She may have feeding difficulties and she may not live long after birth. We were given the option to terminate the pregnancy.
Termination was not an option for us. My husband and I were committed to having our baby. We had even named her already : Violet Arlene Trea Horsford. She was lovingly born without complication at home and into Hospice care.
At 4 days old, Violet had an MRI which confirmed her diagnosis. She has Agenesis of Corpus Callosum, colpocephaly and an interhemispheric lipoma in the frontal lobe of her brain. What this means is that she is missing the largest structure in her brain (the corpus callosum) which is the communicating center between the right and left half of her brain. Also, the ventricles in her brain are enlarged and taking up space where brain tissue should be. The neurologist estimated she is missing about 30% of gray matter in the back of her brain. She also has a fatty cyst in the front of her brain.
Violet has been amazing since the day she was born. She had no feeding difficulties and was discharged from Hospice when she was a month old. With the help of a physical therapist, Violet has met every age appropriate developmental milestone. She babbles, she says mama, she is social and loves to giggle and play with her big sister. She is even starting to crawl.
At her 6 month check up the neurologist was so surprised with Violet’s progress. He called her a miracle. We also took her to her pediatrician for her 6 month well child visit. Again, her doctor called her a miracle. There has been concern that Violet could have many different vision problems. At her 6 month check up with the ophthalmologist , the doctor said her eyes are perfect and that she has never seen anyone like Violet…that she is a miracle. Her physical therapist that works with her weekly has also called her a miracle.
We are so blessed that Violet is our daughter. She is full of strength and determination with a larger than life personality and smile. We praise God for Violet and are thankful for her guardian angels. She has already taught us so much in her 7 months. She is our incredible miracle and she is here to inspire us all.”
Please continue to keep sweet baby Violet and her family in your prayers!

These two little ones were troopers…they came into the studio a little too close to naptime, but we managed to get some utterly cute portraits anyway!
A big sister was amazing. Such a sweet gal….ready to help with her little siblings and so well behaved. What a little princess!
Okay, bye bye…

It is a bittersweet moment for our family, as my mother-in-law stands at the threshold of glory. We are heartbroken to have her leave us here…but we are elated that she will soon be in pain no longer as she leaves this world behind. Vicki Whipps has led a life giving glory to her Savior Jesus Christ and I cry for joy every time that I think of her being welcomed into Heaven. We love you Vicki…
jessica: Kimberly, I am saying prayers for your family right now! I love you friend! :)
This family was such a delight! Two of the sweetest, cutest kids ever. Be sure to be watching the blog…after we did the family session, we did some shots of just that beautiful mama. She recently completed three sprint triathlons. Yeah…I know. I’ll share some of those soon…

Steph G: Hey! That's my family! My goodness, they're cute. What a great job you did, Kim. You have such a talent and we can't wait to come in and get some family photos ourselves after we bring our daughter home.
Urban Fun…[Kimberly Whipps, Portland Oregon family photographer]
November 27, 2009Have I mentioned lately how much I love my new studio? This fabulously urban scene was just a quick jaunt out the door….love it! And this family is so much fun to photograph! So fun loving, playful and carefree, with two of the cutest boys to boot.
This one just cracks me up every time I see it! You should have seen these boys dance like Michael Jackson…
Of course, I can’t stay out the the studio for too long…

Miracle…[Kimberly Whipps, Portland Oregon family photographer]
November 8, 2009Just about a year ago, I took this image…
I told mom and dad at the time that this image was a miracle….and I still think it is. Big brother is only 15 months in this picture and just look at that sweet little kiss!
Well, they came back this year for family photos with a now two year old and 11 month old baby girl who is already walking. What are the chances of a family portrait? Slim to none…but…since they are little miracles…check it out!

Aren’t they just adorable? Such brotherly love…

Fun Family…[Kimberly Whipps, Portland Oregon family photographer]
October 30, 2009I adore this family…they are such a hoot. I was laughing throughout much of our session. Their boys are so adorable…and they love each other so much. Fabulous!
We then headed out of the studio to the wonderfully urban streets of Portland…to capture more real-to-life family portraits. You know, the ones where no one is looking at the camera and the little man has found a stick to use as a sword? Awesome…
